When writing the textbook (handbook) Dynamic Entrepreneurship I was thinking about readers who are in the course of preparing for the start of a new business or who have already commenced business activity. In view of the abundance of issues and problems which business initiators must tackle, the start-up period is considered to be the hardest. This is the time when typical errors are committed, errors which may affect the company’s chances. Adequate planning and preparation as well as efficient execution of the starting phase constitute the foundations of a business serving as grounds for an expansion strategy. This is the reason why the analysis of specific problems and issues along with possible solutions focuses on the long-term implications of the decisions made.

The other group of addressees of the book is people who are considering a private business as a post-graduation career option. This group encompasses students of tertiary education institutions, regardless of the area studied. I would like to take the opportunity to challenge the preconception claiming economics to be the only subject preparing people to starting a business. Experience shows that solid knowledge from a selected field (be it technical science or agriculture, etc.) combined with an awareness of business basics are the real success factors. The time spent at university may be put to use by preparing to the setting up of a business venture also through participation in various educational programs. I am of the opinion that such educational programs will become more accessible in domestic tertiary education institutions. My objective is to encourage potential instructors to run such courses by offering them supplementary teaching aids as well as technical and methodological support available in a special section of the vortal. I do hope that the book will also find readers among high school pupils faced with the choice of the course of studies which will certainly affect their future careers. The dream of running an own business is quite realistic, provided that such plans are taken into account seriously at the time of choosing the subject area to pursue at university.

I also recommend the book to university graduates working in large, stable enterprises who have come to the conclusion that their destiny is running an own business and not a nine to five office job. Contrary to common beliefs they do stand a chance against their younger friends. What they have acquired through work in a large company is knowledge, experience and insight into the industry as well as extensive business contacts. In the US and other highly developed countries the phenomenon of quitting attractive jobs in large corporations to set up a business has flourished recently and is in fact becoming more and more common also in Poland.
